Families of Neurodiverse Children
This mission began because we knew of families with children who had motor and cognitive disorders.
Conductive Education is a programme that has been developed specifically to improve the quality of life for families with children age 0-6 years. Our initial commitment was for families in this age group. Once we realised that Ferndale Schools were also very involved in working with these families, we extended our vision to include them in our giving.
Empower Church Christchurch and Community Focus Trust Christchurch are dedicated to supporting Conductive Education and Ferndale School families, because we believe in the power of a caring community to uplift and transform lives. We currently provide quality food parcels for 90 families 2-3 times a year, along with added treats for Easter and Christmas, to ensure these families have some of the care, support and nurture they need. Our next goal is to increase the number of families we support to 200. Our vision is to extend the support we give – and the facilities we can provide – for many more families. So we are asking for community help to achieve these goals.
We now have a purpose built Sensory Room, created to meet these children’s needs for a place to go that is safe, quiet and welcoming. The room is available for families to hire during the week for a very nominal fee.
An accessibility playground and picnic area is now being designed and built for these families behind the Community House. This will provide a secure space for them to have some fun and downtime.

Hagar is an international not-for-profit organisation on a mission to restore life and dignity for survivors of modern slavery and to prevent exploitation and abuse. Today, more than 50 million people live in slavery. That is more than at any other time in history.
Every day people are trafficked, enslaved, abused and exploited, and women and children are disproportionately vulnerable. Slavery is real, but there is hope. Hagar is dedicated to supporting survivors of these injustices but also preventing them from happening in the first place.
Our global programmes are led by skilled local teams and deliver holistic survivor care and trafficking prevention efforts across the Asia Pacific region. Hagar NZ is registered with NZ Charities Services: CC50258

Open Doors was founded when Brother Andrew began smuggling Bibles into Eastern Europe in 1955. Since then Open Doors has expanded to work to over 70 countries, providing Bibles, discipleship, emergency relief and community development to Christians in the most dangerous places in the world to be a follower of Jesus. Open Doors comes alongside those who are most persecuted for their faith in Jesus, giving them what they need to endure.
Through Open Doors, we are given a glimpse of how God is at work around the world and what discipleship looks like in those dangerous places. In our partnership with Open Doors we are helping the body of Christ be the hands and feet of Jesus in some of the most dangerous places in the world. Empower Church has supported Open Doors for more than 50 years. Open Doors NZ is registered with the NZ Charities Services: CC24946.

Shane Willard is a great friend of Empower Church. He ministers the Word of God with insight and power and his exegesis of scripture, context and meaning transforms people’s understanding.
His dedication to teaching is tied to his deep commitment to making a difference in this world and fulfilling Jesus’ words in Matt 25:40 ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ His missions include financing two orphanages in China that take care of mentally disabled children, and another mission in South Africa, restoring dignity to the lives of women and children caught up in sexual slavery.
