CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION and FERNDALE SCHOOLS 

Conductive Education is a programme developed specifically to improve the quality of life for children aged 0-6 who have motor and cognitive disorders. However, we quickly discovered that there were many older children in this category, attending Ferndale Schools, who also needed our support programme

Empower Church Christchurch and Community Focus Trust Christchurch are now dedicated to supporting Conductive Education and Ferndale School families, because we believe in the power of a caring community to uplift and transform lives. We currently provide good quality food parcels for 90 families three times a year -along with educational toys, and other vital needs, to ensure these families have some of the support they need. Our next goal is to increase the number of families to 200. Our vision is to extend the support we give – and the facilities we can provide – for many more families. So we are asking for community help to achieve these goals. Our Long Term goal is to provide food parcels monthly for up to 400 families in the city, and also to add other services for those families where we see the need.

A Sensory Room has been created in the church building, which is available for families to hire for a nominal fee. This purpose built room helps to de-stress children who have motor and cognitive challenges.

An accessibility playground and picnic area is now being designed and built for these families, behind the Community House at 136 Springfield Road. This will provide a safe and enjoyable space for them to have some fun and downtime.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Fundraising: Organising of community events, such as bake sales, charity runs, or auctions – to raise both money and awareness.

Volunteering: Offering your time and skills to support fundraising programmes and events.
